First National Pictures brought Arthur Conan Doyle’s adventure novel, The Lost World, to the screen in 1925. The heroic Professor Challenger leads an expedition to the Amazon basin and discovers a plateau where prehistoric dinosaurs still survive. Ninety years ago, this popular silent film introduced the concept of “dinosaurs on the loose” and became the real forefather of all prehistoric fantasies, including the Jurassic Park trilogy.
