DESCRIPTION:It’s human nature to cling to the familiar\, but change is inevitable\, and artists often point the way forward. Long before Bob Dylan gave voice to the Sixties with his ‘For the times they are a-changin\,’ Haydn\, who continually reinvented himself\, named his 64th Symphony ‘Times Change.’ \nMozart poured grief over his mother’s death into the beautifully crafted Flute Concerto\, while Prokofiev drew inspiration for his athletic Violin Concerto from his gradual repatriation back to Moscow. Principal flute David Shostac celebrates 40 seasons at LACO performing Mozart and Joseph Swensen returns to solo in Prokofiev. \nLACO composer-in-residence Andrew Norman describes Gran Turismo as ‘a creative joyride.’ Embrace change and hop aboard!\nProgram includes: \nJeffrey Kahane\, conductor\nDavid Shostac\, flute\nJoseph Swensen\, violin \nHAYDN – Symphony No. 64 in A major\, ‘Times Change’\nMOZART – Flute Concerto No. 1 in G major\nANDREW NORMAN – Gran Turismo\nPROKOFIEV – Violin Concerto No. 2 in G minor \nPrograms and artists subject to change. \n7:00 PM – Pre-Concert Preludes – Ticket includes admission.
