SUMMARY:Antaeus Theatre Company: The Hothouse
DESCRIPTION:Harold Pinter’s The Hothouse tells a blisteringly funny story of a government-run institution in which the wardens may be more mad than the patients. Filled with Pinter’s biting political commentary on the perils of unchecked power\, the battle for control results in absurdly comedic mayhem.

The GYO has played twice in recent years at the Walt Disney Concert Hall to great ovation. In 2011\, the GYO auditioned and was selected as a PRIMIER LA Phil Youth Orchestra. Our mission is based on the belief that our young people have a better chance of succeeding in their world if they appreciate and participate in its rich artistic and cultural traditions. GYO provides young musicians in grades 6-12 from all over L.A. County a unique opportunity to play classical music under the direction of Juilliard trained conductor Brad Keimach. The GYO has been a Resident Company of the Alex Theatre for 20 years. \nAndrew Gong attends Harvard-Westlake School as a ninth grader. He began playing the piano at age five and currently studies with renowned piano pedagogue Jenny Shin. Under her tutelage\, he has won many awards in state-wide and international competitions. These include the Southern California  Junior Bach Festival\, the MTAC State Solo Competition\, the MTAC LA Branch Scholarship Competition\, and the LA International Liszt Competition. Andrew also enjoys giving back to the community through music\, having performed free recitals for the homeless in Skid Row. Andrew is in his second season as the GYO’s principal percussionist. \nAnna Gong\, of Pasadena\, is a Senior at Harvard-Westlake School. She began learning the violin under her grandmother\, Lubin Yu\, and later on with her mother\, Bing Wang (Associate Concertmaster of the LA Philharmonic). Since joining the Glendale Youth Orchestra at the age of twelve\, this concert marks her fifth appearance as a soloist with the orchestra. At school she established the Cadence for a Cause\, a club that performs alongside Street Symphony (founded by LA Phil violinist Vijay Gupta) for homeless and underprivileged communities. Anna has won numerous top prizes in competitions hosted by the Music Teacher’s Association of California\, and she has also received second place in the state finals of the VOCE competition.

SUMMARY:Chic Media Presents a 2-Day Conference RISE
DESCRIPTION:RISE is a 2-day conference designed\, curated\, and produced by Rachel Hollis and the incredible team at Chic Media. For the second year in a row we’re cultivating a space where women from every walk of life can come together to be inspired\, supported and enveloped in a community. As always\, RISE weekend will be the perfect balance of loving encouragement and straight-up kicking your butt. Expect to be energized and motivated. Expect to cry and laugh and maybe drink too much wine. Expect to reconnect with those dreams and goals you’ve been carrying around for years without any idea of what to do with them. Expect to dream. Expect to be inspired. Expect to RISE. \nThis year’s theme is ELEVATE. Which means on Day ONE we are going to dig into our past to discover more of what makes you you or what has shaped you and what got you here today. Day TWO will be about bringing what you learned on DAY ONE and fully engaging and applying that to your goals for the future. 700+ women just like you\, who come from a variety of practices and professions. Who should attend? The dreamer\, the creative\, the mom\, the CEO\, the inspired. All of it\, all of you. Put your ideas into action. Get inspiration from incredible speakers. Connect with other women in Los Angeles (and beyond). Understand your intentions + walk away with tangible tools to be a better version of you.

SUMMARY:AEG Presents Miranda Sings Live You're Welcome
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning comedian\, writer\, and trained vocalist Colleen Ballinger extends her stage show through 2018. Featuring appearances by both Colleen and ‘Miranda Sings\,’ the tour offers Ballinger’s signature blend of live comedy\, singing\, awkward innuendos and a lot of lipstick. Audiences can expect a fast-paced 75-minute show and will be left feeling grateful. \nBallinger’s character ‘Miranda Sings’ has become an international phenomenon whose YouTube channel has amassed over 8 million devoted subscribers and over a billion views. The character ‘Miranda’ was created in 2008 to parody the young\, self-absorbed singers with far more confidence (and vibrato) than talent which Colleen saw uploading videos to YouTube. ‘Miranda’ is known for her overdrawn red lips\, questionable advice about singing and life\, a deluded self-confidence\, and over-the-top rants about her family and personal problems. With the New York Times #1 Bestselling book Selp Helf and the hour-long comedy special inspired by it\, Colleen’s eccentric alter ego continues to grow beyond her YouTube channel.
