The Glendale Youth Orchestra (GYO) is one of Los Angeles County’s leading youth orchestras. The GYO has played twice in recent years at the Walt Disney Concert Hall to great ovation. In 2011, the GYO auditioned and was selected as a PREMIER LA Phil Youth Orchestra. Our mission is based on the belief that our young people have a better chance of succeeding in their world if they appreciate and participate in its rich artistic and cultural traditions. Anahit Nersisyan, renowned high soprano, will have her jubilee concert at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. Of Armenian origin, Anahit Nersisyan is a recognized and highly esteemed singer in Los Angeles’ Armenian community. She has participated in several international competitions and festivals, including: VI International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition (1980, First Prize and Golden Medal, Germany), Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition (2009, First Prize), and the Vocal competition after Glinka (1984, First Prize). In 2010 Anahit Nersisyan performed in Carnegie Hall. Over the course of her career, she has performed with close to 40 orchestras and held 500 concerts.
