It is generally a 5 day set of exercises that allows a team to learn the viability of an idea without the cost and commitment required to build and launch that idea. We will breakdown the phases and exercises commonly used in a Design Sprint and review some applicable use cases.  \nAbout the Speaker: \nShashant Jasani leads Product Development and UX at mobileforming\, with a core mission to work with mobileforming clients in effort to define their mobile strategy and roadmap. Regardless of the specific industry the client represents\, the fundamental approach remains the same\, starting with immersing himself in how their business works and identifying what challenges they currently face or may face. \nCoupled with a technical background\, a focus in UX and broad business operations experience\, Shashant brings a well-rounded perspective and vision to any challenge. DESCRIPTION:The Apology is a 2016 documentary film by Tiffany Hsiung about three former comfort women who were among the 200\,000 girls and young women kidnapped and forced into military sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. The film is produced by Anita Lee for the National Film Board of Canada. \nReflectSpace at Downtown Central presents Do the Right Thing: (dis)comfort women\, an exhibition reflecting on the silence and dialogue by and about the women who were forced to become sex slaves by the Japanese Imperial Army before and during World War II. The exhibition presents the work of twelve international documentarians and artists and runs from July 20 to September 3\, 2017. Co-curated by Monica Hye Yeon Jun\, Ara and Anahid Oshagan. An opening reception will be held on Friday July 21\, from 6-9 pm\, Downtown Central Library\, 222 East Harvard Street\, Glendale CA 91205.  \nThe artists’ work invites reflection and dialogue but also creates tension: between the inability to speak about personal trauma and the deep human urge to tell. Artists explore this silence and simultaneously break it. (dis)comfort women is held taut in this tension and is a vociferous presence urging the acknowledgment of the horrors\, lifelong indignity and shame suffered by the comfort women.

DESCRIPTION:Gleah Powers – Edna and Luna. Set in the American Southwest\, Gleah Powers’ novel\, Edna and Luna\, is the story of two women: a lonely\, recently widowed eccentric and a much younger new age healer. Facing old age and a hysterectomy\, Edna\, at 70\, reminisces and ruminates about her losses as she makes unsuccessful attempts to start a new life. She tries to befriend her hairdresser\, her gardener and a man she meets at a senior dance who makes sexual advances in the swimming pool. Luna\, at 35\, ridiculed since childhood for her unorthodox gift of healing\, has left a violent husband before moving to a local trailer park. Despite Edna’s initial suspicions that Luna is both out of her mind and after her money\, their relationship becomes an odyssey filled with unpredictable depths and discoveries for both women. For more than a decade\, Gleah Powers has devoted herself to fiction and poetry\, receiving an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles. Her work has been widely published in print and online. Currently\, she is at work on a memoir and a short story collection. \nLisbeth Davidow was a finalist in Alligator Juniper’s national creative non-fiction contest and in The Southeast Review’s Narrative Nonfiction Contest. She was also nominated to be included in Best of Creative Nonfiction. Her writing has appeared in Alligator Juniper\, Blue Lyra Review\, Helix\, Lunch Ticket\, Mandala\, Marco Polo\, Pilgrimage\, Prime Mincer\, Revolution House\, Spittoon\, Sliver of Stone and The Tishman Review. A former modern dancer and choreographer\, she is now a Feldenkrais practitioner. She is working on a book-length collection of essays and lives in Malibu with her husband. \nLinda Davis was the winner of The Saturday Evening Post’s Great American Fiction Contest in 2014. Other publications include The Literary Review\, Gemini Magazine\, Flyway Note’s\, Permafrost\, and Tattoo Highway. Anthologies include Elephantine Press and Morning Coffee and Other Stories: Mothering Children with Special Needs. She worked with Antonya Nelson at Bread Loaf and Brad Kessler at Antioch University where she received her MFA. She lives in Santa Monica with her husband and three children. She spent last year writing her first YA Novel\, Take Two.
