In 2011\, the GYO auditioned and was selected as a PREMIER LA Phil Youth Orchestra. GYO’s mission is based on the belief that our young people have a better chance of succeeding in their world if they appreciate and participate in its rich artistic and cultural traditions. GYO provides young musicians in grades 6-12 from all over L.A. County a unique opportunity to play classical music under the direction of Juilliard-trained conductor Brad Keimach. Juran and starring Kerwin Matthews\, Torin Thatcher\, Kathryn Grant\, Richard Eyer. This top-notch adventure pits hero Sinbad against the evil Magician who has reduced the Princess to miniature size. Fast-moving and filled with thrilling creatures including the giant Cyclops and the famous sword battle with an army of skeletons. \nThe Special Effects were conceptualized by Ray Harryhausen using a full-color widescreen stop-motion animation technique called Dynamation. \nThe 7th Voyage of Sinbad was selected in 2008 for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress by virtue of being ‘culturally\, historically and aesthetically significant.’

DESCRIPTION:Take a free backstage tour of the Alex Theatre for an exclusive\, behind-the-scenes look at the historic venue as you have never seen it before! \nThe tour is led by a guide who will conduct an overview of the landmark’s 90-year history\, from its inception as a vaudeville house and movie palace in 1925 to its transformation to a world-class performing arts and entertainment center in the 1990s and more recently\, the backstage expansion of 2014 and current programs and activities. \nParticipants will also have the chance to see sound and lighting demos and explore and learn about the facility’s interior and exterior architecture\, in addition to the sculptures and art and antique objects that adorn the venue. \nThis two-hour walking tour includes climbing stairs and is not recommended for young children. There is no elevator access to the Terrace and Balcony levels. \nEach tour is limited to 20 people. \nAttendees will also have the opportunity to purchase merchandise in the lobby.
