Stooges Family Values' In 1933 MGM released a 'Ted Healy and His Stooges' short called Hello Pop! incorporating musical numbers from two previously shot features unrelated to the Stooges. The original technicolor negative was lost in a 1967 fire at MGM and no prints were known to exist. Working on a measly budget (under $400,000), the Python troupe made do with what they had. Can’t afford horses? No problem. We’ll just have Patsy (Terry Gilliam, playing the part of King Arthur’s assistant) simulate the sound of horses by banging two coconuts together. No location budget? No problem. We’ll just shoot most of the castle scenes (and there are a lot of them) in the same castle, just using different camera angles, lighting set-ups, and set dressing.
