Unlike Mozart and Beethoven, Haydn spent most of his life working for one powerful, generous man: Prince Esterházy of Hungary. Upon the Prince’s death, Haydn was free to find new opportunities – and new friends – abroad. Amidst his London successes, Haydn found time to write his Sinfonia concertante, a lively showcase for the composer and several of his pals.
