San Fernando Valley Business Journal: Hotel With 25 Stories Proposed for Glendale

By Michael Aushenker

A 25-story hotel proposal by Arcadia-based real estate firm Kam Sang Co. is scheduled to go before Glendale City Council Tuesday.

As reported by Urbanize.LA, the 226-unit, high-rise project at 135-190 Glenoaks Blvd., would feature 20,000 square feet of ballroom and conference spaces and nearly 18,000 square feet for offices. The structure wouldl also house 7,500 square feet devoted to restaurants. Amenities are to include a rooftop pool deck and lounge.

The blueprint also calls for capping a portion of the adjacent Verdugo Wash, and Kam Sang has proposed to share parking with the adjacent Hilton hotel along Arden Avenue, as an existing 525-vehicle garage would accommodate both hospitality businesses.

Kam Sang’s hotel has a contemporary exterior design with a grid of windows and inset balconies, with blue-tinted glass and concrete flourishes.

Downtown Glendale currently has several hotel projects in development nearby, including at 611 N. Brand Blvd., where Vancouver’s Onni Group is pursuing a multi-building hotel development featuring 857 guest rooms.

Another high-rise development in the area, featuring 20 stories of apartments, has been proposed for 610 N. Brand Boulevard.
