The Glendale Youth Orchestra (GYO) is one of Los Angeles County’s lead youth orchestras. The GYO has played twice in recent years at the Walt Disney Concert Hall to great acclaim. In 2011, the GYO auditioned and was selected as a PREMIER LA Phil Youth Orchestra. GYO’s mission is based on the belief that our young people have a better chance of succeeding in their world if they appreciate and participate in its rich artistic and cultural traditions. Consisting of mostly L.A.-based, extremely accomplished musicians, the Big Band accentuates the rich diversity and musical heritage of Arturo Sandoval, who is equally at home in a soulful Jazz piece or Afro-Cuban rhythms. Net proceeds will benefit youth music programs and help fund music scholarships and instruments.
