Working on a measly budget (under $400,000), the Python troupe made do with what they had. Can’t afford horses? No problem. We’ll just have Patsy (Terry Gilliam, playing the part of King Arthur’s assistant) simulate the sound of horses by banging two coconuts together. No location budget? No problem. We’ll just shoot most of the castle scenes (and there are a lot of them) in the same castle, just using different camera angles, lighting set-ups, and set dressing.
